The heart of the National FFA Organization is at the local chapter level. Leadership is provided by officers who are elected each year.

DCHS FFA wins TWO State Competitions in 2018,
competes at Nationals in Indianapolis
 
Alexis Freeman, Aisling Hagan, Jade Welch, and Abigayle Cowden (all seniors) won the State Nursery/Landscaping competition in April and placed 2nd at the National contest in Indianapolis. The competition takes place over two days, testing participants on nursery and landscape principles, design and construction, plant disorders, insects, use of equipment, approximately 120 plants, plant propagation, safety procedures, sales and marketing skills, business management, and financial statements.
Jordan Richardson (soph), Katie McKinney (soph), Anna Young (J), and Emily Chaffin (soph) won the State Floriculture competition in April and placed Silver Emblem at Nationals in Indianapolis in October. The Floriculture competition takes place over two days and requires students to demonstrate skill in identification of 120 plants, disorders, insects, solving in depth floral related problems, propagation of plants, marketing and sales skills, business and greenhouse management, and creating numerous floral arrangements, boutonnieres, and corsages.
