State-winning Floriculture Team:
NATIONAL FFA GOLD EMBLEM - 9TH PLACE IN THE NATION!

Kenzie Bastian, Troix Cox, Aisling Hagan, and Cole Tipton of the David Crockett FFA Chapter representedTennessee in the 2016 National FFA Floriculture CDE during the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. The team placed 9th in the National Contest out of 43 states. They received a Gold Emblem award, which is awarded to the top tier teams. A 9th place finish in the Nation is a remarkable feat! Kenzie Bastian and Cole Tipton won Individual Gold Emblems for their performances.

The contest consisted of plant identification of 120 plants, general knowledge exam, propagation, floral arrangement, job interview, 1-on-1 sales, dish garden arrangement, and a team activity. The team scored an amazing 945 out of 1000 points for their team activity. The contest was completed during a mentally grilling 2 days as they competed against teams from California to Florida.
